Who I am

I was born and bred in the UK and studied at Cambridge University (Christ's College), but have now lived in Germany for almost 30 years. During this time, I've worked primarily in the German educational market but have also been involved in educational projects for English-speaking countries.

I’ve worked as an author and consultant for the past 18 years, writing leading English course books for German schools, doing teacher training (for teachers of English) and advising educational institutions as an English language consultant. My experience in digital coupled with the belief that education is more than what goes on in schools means that I also consult for companies producing websites or apps for children, as well as speaking and writing on the topic.

I started out as an editor with the leading educational publisher Ernst Klett Verlag, was then head of the children's and educational software department at The Learning Company (Mattel Interactive) before becoming editor-in-chief of the children's web portal 4kidz.

In my spare time I can usually be found playing the violin (amongst other things in a great chamber orchestra - Opus Zwei) tramping around the forest with my dogs, trying my hand at something new (currently riding) or simply relaxing with family and friends.
